I’m excited to share the release of my latest (and last) ZHDK project — and my first collaboration with poet and architect Michel Kessler. Our work, UNDER THE ICE, merges arthouse sensibilities with genre cinema and is now making its festival rounds nationally and internationally.
UNDER THE ICE follows Sasha Sirkovsky, a data analyst sent to investigate a team of scientists who have mysteriously stopped reporting results while drilling ice cores on the last remaining glacier.
Following our national premieres at the Neuchâtel International Fantastic Film Festival and Winterthurer Kurzfilmtage (5. - 10. November) in Switzerland we are happy to have been invited by Trinationale Shorts, showcasing the best school graduation works of France, Germany and Switzerland as well as Landshuter Kurzfilmtage in Germany.
With our first Oscar-qualifying festival Hollyshorts Film Festival we’re thrilled to celebrate our U.S. premiere at the legendary TLC Chinese Theatres in Los Angeles. Furthermore being invited FILMQUEST - one of the leading genre festivals in the U.S. A personal highlight, showing how UNDER THE ICE could move fluidly between arthouse and genre festivals alike.
So far, the film will screen at over 10 international festivals and more to come:
23. NIFFF Neuchâtel International Fantastic Film Festival ( World Premiere)
28. Winterthurer Kurzfilmtage (Hors Concours)
25. Hollyshorts Festival (US, Los Angeles)
12. FilmQuest Festival (US, Utah)
21. Lucca Film Festival (Italy)
14. Grimmfest (UK, Manchester)
19. Leiden Film Festival (NL, Holland )
14. Evolution Mallorca Int. Film Festival (Spain)
26. Landshuter Kurzfilmfestival (Germany)
4. Nature & Culture – International Poetry Film Festival (Denmark).
27. SHORTS Trinationale Offenburg (Germany)
23. Film Front - Int. Short Film Festival (Serbia)
We’re grateful for the press (Urner Zeitung, Thuner Tagblatt) for making a Swiss sci-fi movie on a glacier against all odds — and we can’t wait to share the film with you online once it completes its festival run next year.
